I’ve been dealing with some pretty heavy anxiety issues lately and decided to use the inconvenient frenetic thought-racing for something creative. To this end, I tapped wholly into the Barbieheimer trend that’s taking over the internet right now and to the depths of my “bubblegum goth” nature which I’ve had for years without knowing that there’s a term for liking things morbid and pink.
ReVerse Butcher, singular multimedia artist and longtime friend, designed the cover. I said “skull with a bow?” and in what felt like mortal minutes, she presented me with this:
In here we’ve got: Death’s trip to Claire’s, an ill-fated robot romance, a nonfiction tribute to the catharsis of 80’s music and a would’ve-been-paramour named Sledge, and a shameless self-insert vampire story in which my teenage dream comes true.
It is currently what we 90’s-formed people used to call an e-zine, but I have fantasies of changing that and printing future issues, for which I’ve set up a Venmo. You do NOT have to pay to read it, but if you read it and decide it should totally get physical, you’re welcome to contribute. Alternately, I won’t stop you from throwing some dollars there just for the hell of it if you’re so inclined, though that would be weird, and set up a conflict between my entrepreneurial spirit and my pure artistic soul.
Anyway, the only way I can offer it right-this-moment is through a thoughtfully designed pdf, which I will be more than happy to send to you if you want one!
Just let me know.
Wow, sign me up please.
You had me at Death goes to Claires. Send pdf please!
