and I can definitely say that I've never written a full draft (especially anything decent) at that speed before. I love your explanation though. It certainly is the truth. Up until now, I've been something of an exhibitionist without *necessarily* being dedicated to the actual truth. A sort of LOOK AT MY PERSONA WATCH THIS PERFORMANCE. Substack's helped me a lot with changing that.
This is the first time I've really felt like I *had* to write something or I would go crazy. I was hurting, I was furious, I was sad. I've been all those things before, of course, but...not like this. And yet somehow I could pour it all out while still being (hopefully) funny or otherwise engaging in ways that didn't make the reader feel like I was emotionally dumping on them. I don't think I've ever felt these sorts of things in a way that made a good story. But when people kept telling me this really did, I thought, "Wow, you know what? I'd read this too."
